Rajab Is Training With The Spirulina Team
October 2020

Rajab, one of our sponsored Nasio children, is currently volunteering at the medical centre now that his final year medical studies have been put on hold due to Covid-19.

“Thanks a lot to The Nasio Trust for helping improve and sustain good health for people who have health challenges through proper medications and supplementation and  also for enabling the volunteers to gain experience and skills in different fields which are important for growth of the community and the country at large.”

Rajab has also taken the opportunity to train with our spirulina production team. He’s developed a keen interest to learn more about spirulina as he’s seen the benefits it can deliver as he helped support families impacted by the flooding. He’s recently attended a training session on spirulina production, feeding, harvesting, drying and its benefits to human body.

Check out Rajab’s personal blog to hear more in his own words about what he’s learned.

We are very proud of the way Rajab has passionately engaged with his community volunteering. This is a wonderful demonstration of the ethos of Nasio, children who benefit from our support giving back to the community in this very practical way.

Thank you Rajab for all you’re doing for Nasio!

Jiggers: A Preventable Crisis with Life-Changing Consequences

Jiggers are initially thought to come from Central and South America, the jigger parasite found its way to Africa, likely through human migration. Once it burrows into the skin – most commonly in the feet – it causes severe inflammation, ulceration, and unbearable itching.

Left untreated, the infection can escalate to tetanus, gangrene, or even the loss of limbs.
