Positive response for 'Not so Black and White'
Nancy’s first novel, co-authored with friend and author Sylvia Vetta, has received a very positive reception from both the readership and media. Highlighted within the article ‘The two received a lot of praise for their unusual co-authorship…’ with the work being described as a ‘…mix of commentary on society and the key message that our differences and experiences can unite us are so important and will definitely have an impact on the people who read it.’

Kenyan Ministry Of Health County Award
Recognising that the Nasio Trust are working with the Kenyan Ministry of Health and Government to fill a critical gap in the provision of essential services including healthcare, clean water and sanitation in the rural communities of Mumias and Musanda during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nancy selected as a Pilotlight Charity Leader
Nancy was selected as one of the eight overall UK charity leaders to take part in the Pilotlight Programme and Pilotlight’s Bursary Initiative. The support of Pilotlight has allowed Nasio to think strategically about where the organisation is going and helps us to plan for future sustainability, development and growth.

Presented at Exeter Cathedral by the Open University. For her incredible hard-work and determination for the success of the Nasio Trust’s work, Nancy was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Open University at a ceremony in Exeter Cathedral. In response to this award Nancy remarked: “I would like to thank all our staff, volunteers, supporters for their contribution without them I would have never received this award.”

The Booys Family Technology and Engineering Bursary
The work of Nasio within Kenya inspired Richard and Sue Booys to create a bursary through Nasio Trust. This bursary will support a student for a course, of up to three years, at a technical college, studying any aspect of engineering or technology, particularly mechanical or building engineering and surveying.

Carlos started out as a volunteer from VSO Bahaginan sent to Mumias, Kenya, to help with Nasio Trust in 2011. He was only supposed to be there for a year, but Nasio Trust refused to let him go and now he is the Country Director of Nasio Trust in Mumias.
