August 2025
At The Nasio Trust, we believe communities should have access to essential healthcare services so that they can thrive and break the cycle of poverty. We are inviting your business to be part of this transformation by supporting our Healthcare programmes.
Your partnership will not only change people’s lives in rural Kenya but will also strengthen your company’s social impact, employee engagement, and global outlook.
About The Nasio Trust
The Nasio Trust is a UK and Kenya-registered charity empowering vulnerable communities in rural Western Kenya to break the cycle of poverty and thrive. Since 2001, we’ve delivered life-changing education, accessible healthcare, and sustainable livelihoods—reaching over 30,000 people each year in Kakamega County.
The Challenge
Kenya continues to be burdened by life-threatening diseases such as HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis. High infant and maternal mortality due to poor healthcare coverage also mark the local community in Mumias West. Poor local healthcare infrastructure for particularly vulnerable people such as those living with disabilities further exacerbates health outcomes. Growing food insecurity has also led to the re-emergence of issues such as malnutrition and stunting amongst children under the age of 5.
The cessation of the USAID healthcare funding has disrupted the local healthcare infrastructure, particularly for HIV care putting the lives of thousands of people at risk.
Our Solution – Holistic Healthcare Provision
The Nasio Trust’s Healthcare Programmes take a holistic approach to the delivery of healthcare, combining quality treatment with education on preventing key healthcare issues.
Our purpose-built George Mudenyo Kadima Medical Centre
- Treats over 15,000 patients annually
- Successfully delivers 400 infants in a year
- Provides essential immunisations and vaccines
- Is a key hub for the delivery of HIV/AIDS treatment and support
- Provides ambulance services
In the community we
- Conduct regular medical camps including for jiggers (a parasite that burrows into the skin) — a common condition amongst people living in mud houses
- Deliver Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare Knowledge to youth and vulnerable communities to prevent HIV and teenage pregnancies through our Peer Education Programme
- Hold a weekly Porridge Kitchen to combat malnutrition
- Enroll beneficiaries and community members into the Kenyan national health insurance scheme
- Produce spirulina for use in our Feeding Programme and Porridge Kitchen Programme
This model doesn’t just stop at treatment, it targets the causes of life altering illnesses.
