Riziki’s Story

My Name is Riziki Hamisi from Mumias and one of the NASIO TRUST beneficiaries as well as one of the Peer educators in the program.

Peer education program has enabled me to gain guiding and counselling skills and knowledge, with this knowledge I have been able to educate my fellow peers and show them direction on what is right and wrong in their peer life, I also do guiding and counselling to some of them.

As many of our supporters may know, we regularly welcome interns from Oxford University to come and work with us for a period at The Nasio Trust.

Over the years - these groups of interns have been responsible for some incredible ideas that have repeatedly helped us take the charity to the next level in the ongoing fight to break the cycle of poverty.

Nancy Interview Featured On The Oxford Blue Website

Nancy was recently interviewed for The Oxford Blue on themes of empowerment through education.

"Since 2001, Nancy has helped to build day care centres, a medical centre, a school and countless sustainable projects that encourage individual empowerment instead of reliance and dependency on aid. Oxford students have continued to support the charity through internships and volunteering and the University of Oxford awarded Nasio the Gold Standard for the opportunities given to students."

An Exciting Project in Partnership with Play Action International

We are pleased to let you know about our recent collaboration with Play Action International.

At the end of 2020, and in just 9 days, we installed exciting and safe playgrounds, hand-washing facilities and delivered play training to schools, Early Childhood Development Centres and a local hospital in Kenya.

The Importance Of A Wind Up Radio

Nasio’s Christmas 2020 appeal was a great success and many families benefitted from our Christmas boxes which contained a wind-up radio along with a food parcel and an item of clothing for a child.

The wind-up radio was included as a direct response to the Covid-19 situation, providing a way of ensuring that important information reaches our poor, vulnerable communities.

Our Anniversary appeal this year will focus on raising funds to expand our amazing medical centre so that we are able to provide even more lifesaving healthcare to our vulnerable communities. Play Action have kindly featured Nasio in an article on their website “Christmas comes early for Catherine and her children”.

It is said by the locals around the Kakamega Musanda/Milimani areas of Kenya that when their major sugar factory shut down, it was like going for the jugular for the majority of homes trying to source income.
