She comes from Ebwasi village in Kenya, and being able to read and write has changed her life for good.
Find Out MoreA lack of sleep can have detrimental effects on a child’s education and ability to learn.
But many of our Nasio children in western Kenya are without a bed, and sleep every night on a blanket laid on the mud floor of their family home due to poverty. This is why The Nasio Trust is launching an appeal to raise £8,000 to provide beds for our 115 children who currently have no beds.

My parents divorced when I was 9 months old and my mother took me back with her to her parents home. I was brought up at my maternal grandparents. My mother died in 2014 when I was 16 years old. After my mother’s death we were left alone and we had to manage ourselves in a child headed family alongside my sibling and cousins for one year before the family members brought in one of my elder cousins to take care of us.

Peer education program has enabled me to gain guiding and counselling skills and knowledge, with this knowledge I have been able to educate my fellow peers and show them direction on what is right and wrong in their peer life, I also do guiding and counselling to some of them.

Oxford students have continued to support the charity through internships and volunteering and the University of Oxford awarded Nasio the Gold Standard for the opportunities given to students."
