Increasing HIV/AIDS Awareness Through Football

Through our Peer Education Programme, the Nasio Trust hosts regular football fixtures between partner schools across Mumias West Sub County.

The football games are a medium for the charity to conduct HIV sensitisation sessions, answer questions about Sexual Education, distribute condoms and conduct HIV tests in a destigmatised, non-clinical setting. In using this innovative context to spread more awareness about the transmission of HIV, the Nasio Trust is able to reach out-of-school youth as well.

We’re very excited to announce that – on Friday April 28th – Nasio founder Nancy Hunt was awarded an honorary doctorate at Exeter Cathedral for the incredible work that she and the charity have accomplished!

When BBC South Today Came To Kenya (Part 1)

At the end of 2016 we were lucky enough to have the nice people from BBC South Today follow a group of young people to Western Kenya.

Graduation in Kenya!

A time for celebration as St Irene pupil’s graduated from Pre-Primary Education at the end of 2016. These children will now enter the Kenyan education system whilst continuing to be supported by The Nasio Trust and their Child Sponsors.

We now look forward to a new intake of 40 children at our Early Childhood Development Centres - all of whom require a Child Sponsor.

Help #nasio15 To Fight Malaria In Memory Of Livingstone

November 5th, 2016 marks the 3rd anniversary of the death of Livingstone Amwoma. Livingstone was a happy, healthy 5 year old boy attending our St. Irene’s Early Childhood Development Centre. He died tragically from a Malaria related illness on November the 5th, 2013.
