Graduation in Kenya!

A time for celebration as St Irene pupil’s graduated from Pre-Primary Education at the end of 2016. These children will now enter the Kenyan education system whilst continuing to be supported by The Nasio Trust and their Child Sponsors.

We now look forward to a new intake of 40 children at our Early Childhood Development Centres - all of whom require a Child Sponsor.

The Musungu (white man) returns

In the early morning light I spot a group of women having a gossip at the water well surrounded by yellow 10 gallon drums for the days water to be transported home. A kid chewing on a stick of sugar cane, fallen from the sugar cane truck which thunders by. He smiles and waves as we pass.

Maybe it is fatigue or the thought of returning home. Either way I find myself bouncing along unmade roads on my way to the airport with a lump in my throat and tears running down my face.

Benji’s Experience In Kenya

I would like to thank Ed and everyone else who is part of The Nasio Trust for enabling me to experience the work they do in western Kenya.

The community in Mumias is amazing, everyone was so welcoming and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing football, Frisbee, hand printing, colouring and singing with the local children.

Livingstone’s Story

Livingstone was a happy, healthy 5 year old boy attending our St. Irene’s Early Childhood Development Centre. On October 31st 2013 he became feverish and received rudimentary medicine to treat these symptoms.

On the 4th of November, around 8PM his stomach began to bloat and his condition deteriorated again quickly.
