Celebrating 20 Years of Impact – We’re Egmont Trust 2025 Award Winners!
June 2025

This year, The Egmont Trust marked a momentous milestone: 20 years of transformative work alongside grassroots organisations across sub-Saharan Africa. On 14 May, we gathered in London for our Annual Awards Ceremony, honouring the dedication, innovation and resilience of our remarkable partners.

Over the past two decades, Egmont has supported more than 130 local organisations, delivering over 460 community-led projects in six countries, and reaching more than one million people affected by HIV and poverty.

The Annual Egmont Trust Awards celebrate the very best among these change-makers and we’re very excited to report that The Nasio Trust won Best Performing Organisation!

“Our programme has reached over 20,000 people in just two years. Thanks to Egmont, more young people are getting tested, stigma is falling, and hope is rising.” – Rajab, Peer Educator

Here’s what they had to say about us:

“Nasio’s peer-led education programme in Mumias West is empowering young people to address teenage pregnancy and HIV head-on. Through honest, youth-led conversations and community mentorship, they’re not only reducing infection rates but also dismantling stigma.
Founder Nancy Hunt and peer educator and clinical doctor Rajab joined us at the ceremony to receive the award and share how Egmont’s support has made long-term planning and measurable impact possible.”

We’d like to thank Egmont from the bottom of our hearts for this award and for the unwavering support they have shown the Nasio Trust while partnering with us on these critical projects.

Jiggers: A Preventable Crisis with Life-Changing Consequences

Jiggers are initially thought to come from Central and South America, the jigger parasite found its way to Africa, likely through human migration. Once it burrows into the skin – most commonly in the feet – it causes severe inflammation, ulceration, and unbearable itching.

Left untreated, the infection can escalate to tetanus, gangrene, or even the loss of limbs.
