Oxford University Internships: The Partnership Continues

We’re very pleased to report that we’ll be partnering with Oxford university again in 2019 as part of their Summer Internship Scheme.

Some of you may recall we recently won an award for the quality and diversity of the internship opportunities we've offered to Oxford students in recent years. Summer 2019 will see that partnership continue and grow.

Lee, James & Kieran’s Kenyan Adventure

Three Beard employees have recently returned from Kenya, the culmination of a 12-month long partnership with two charities on two different continents, the NASIO Trust and Youth Challenge Oxford (YoCO).

As well as building the homes, Kieran, James and Lee were also able to experience other aspects of the daily lives of the Kenyan community, which gave them a real understanding of the challenges faced by the whole community.

Camille Talks About Shoes For Africa

Local, newly trained cobblers and sewers will take on the manufacture of shoes to be sold to the local community.

To support the enterprise, an educational campaign will inform families on the benefits of the shoes, and on the need to wear them every day.

Rescue, Restoration and Reintegration – Every Child deserves a loving family!

For Irene, Isaiah and Grace, it has been a story of rescue, restoration and reintegration.

The three children were abandoned by both their parents after being exposed to both domestic violence and negligence. Their feet were badly infected by jiggers, and they often went without food. They were taken in by their great grandmother, but in truth she was simply too old to take good care of the three active children.

James Landale Swims The Bosphorus

On Sunday July 22nd the incredible James Landale successfully swam the 6.5km stretch of water known as the Bosphorus. Effectively swimming between the continents of Europe and Asia!

He raised an amazing £10,000 and shared it between 3 charities - one of which was The Nasio Trust.
