Not long after being voted Oxfordshire's most inspirational woman, Nancy has gone on to be honoured with the title of "The UK's Most Inspirational Woman" at the recent the National Venus Awards.

Nancy Receives An Honorary Degree

We’re pleased to announce that our founder and CEO Nancy Hunt has been awarded an honorary degree by the University of Reading in recognition for the work of The Nasio Trust.

She’s been awarded “Doctor of Letters” in recognition of her work in the charity over the past 20 years.

Nancy would like to thank everyone for all their support of her and Nasio over the years, which has impacted on so many lives in UK and Kenya.

Jiggers: A Preventable Crisis with Life-Changing Consequences

Jiggers are initially thought to come from Central and South America, the jigger parasite found its way to Africa, likely through human migration. Once it burrows into the skin – most commonly in the feet – it causes severe inflammation, ulceration, and unbearable itching.

Left untreated, the infection can escalate to tetanus, gangrene, or even the loss of limbs.
