First Day Care Centre Noah's Ark
The centre was set up for the provision of food and pre-school education. Initially a roadside kiosk serving 15 children.

Noah's Ark Permanent Site
Nasio works closely with the community to open our first Early Childhood Development Centre. It was formally opened by the bishop.

The Tragic Death Of Livingstone
5-year-old Livingstone’s tragic death when being carried to hospital 10 miles away highlighted the need for a medical facility in Musanda.

Breaking Ground On Our Medical Centre
G-Force builders constructed a robust foundation in readiness for the medical centre building and also carried out other work with local builders as the development progressed.

Spirulina Tanks Are Built
Thanks to generous funding from Kennington Overseas Aid a spirulina production unit was built to provide local employment, reduce malnutrition in children by taking this food supplement and provide income generation from the sale of surplus spirulina.

Nancy Wins A Venus Award

Water Tanks Installed In Tanzania
Life-changing access to safe water was created in the Tanzania community of Oldonyosambu thanks to Abingdon Rotary and Nasio.

Nancy Awarded A Doctorate
In recognition of the work Nancy had done both in the UK, establishing the Exit 7 programme for young people who had lost direction, and providing education in Kenya to children in poverty, she was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Open University for services to the educationally underpriviledged.

Gold Standard Internship Award

Nasio's First Girl Starts University

Nancy Hunt, Nasio’s Founder and CEO, felicitated with an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Reading
The University of Reading recognised Nancy’s tireless work in Kenya and the UK. She was awarded ‘Doctor of Letters’ on the 9th of December. The University recognised Nancy and Nasio’s impact on the local communities in Western Kenya and beyond.

First Volunteering Trip from Brazil
Seven students and two teachers from the Pueri Domos and Sphere International Schools in Sao Paulo, Brazil visited the Nasio Trust and Kenya for the first time during the summer of 2023. They immersed themselves into Kenya’s culture and participated in activities such as a house build, football match and a jiggers campaign.

Documentary filmed by Egmont Trust to showcase the impact of the Peer Education Programme
Riziki Hamisi, a peer educator trained in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare, was spotlighted by the Egmont Trust – that funds Nasio’s Peer Education Programme, through a short documentary film on her life and the impact the programme has had on her. The film was also screened at their events in the UK and in the USA.

Launch of Cosmic Cats Book in aid of Library Fundraiser
In commemoration of World Book Day, the Nasio Trust and St Swithun’s School in Kennington, Oxfordshire published a children’s book with stories by children from students at St Swithuns and from Mumias Secondary School, a local school in Kenya. The proceeds from the sales of the book will be used to construct a community library in Kenya.
The library has now begun construction and is slated for completion in early 2026.
We have now launched a Global Storybook Project, collaborating with 5 schools to bring the joy of writing to more students across Kenya and Oxfordshire. All proceeds from the sale of the books will go towards the construction of the first community library in Musanda.

Nasio’s Medical Centre Nominated for an Award at the Quality Healthcare Awards
The GMK Medical Centre was nominated as the Best Primary at the Quality Healthcare People’s Choice Awards in 2024. The awards body recognised the impact the medical centre has had on the community and selected it as the best healthcare provider in the western region of Kenya from amongst 40 other facilities.

Water Kiosk Becomes Operational
With the support of the Daymark Foundation, we have already established a freshwater borehole that is providing clean water to the GMK Medical Centre as well as the Nasio guesthouse. A new water kiosk has been constructed within the medical centre’s compound to provide water to villages in the vicinity such as Musanda and Ibinda.
