With Regret: We’re No Longer Accepting Unsolicited Physical Gifts

For many years we have transported gifts, packages and donations, via our volunteers, to Kenya. This has, up until this point, been unproblematic due to large luggage allowances on flights to Nairobi.

Regrettably this does mean we will no longer be accepting unsolicited donations such as clothing, books, sports equipment etc.

Coronavirus & Travel To Africa

Here at the Nasio Trust we are keeping a close eye on the government’s travel advice regards coronavirus (COVID-19):

As of 10th March 2020 neither Kenya or Tanzania are on the list of countries for which the UK Government has given specific advice but of course this changes almost daily. We recommend anyone planning to travel to Kenya to visit our projects, or to Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro, also keeps up to date with the Government’s guidelines.

The UN Calls For The End Of Orphanages

In a historic move on December 18th 2019, all 193 member states of the United Nations have formally recognised that orphanages don’t protect children, they harm them, and have called for the progressive elimination of institutional care globally.

Supporters of the Nasio Trust will be aware that our proven model of caring for disadvantaged children in a family-like environment (using a network of amazing Nasio guardians) is a direct reaction to the harm caused by institutionalised care.

Two New Initiatives By Izzie

This summer I spent a month volunteering in Kenya with The Nasio Trust – an amazing experience that gave me the opportunity to get to know 11 Nasio families.

After many home visits, a few jigger treatments and volunteering at the Nasio medical centre, St Mary's hospital and visiting a local Government hospital, I was particularly interested in maximising access to healthcare, especially for our most vulnerable families.
