At the end of 2020, and in just 9 days, we installed exciting and safe playgrounds, hand-washing facilities and delivered play training to schools, Early Childhood Development Centres and a local hospital in Kenya.

Nasio wholeheartedly agrees with Helen Grant, special envoy for girls' education, who said: “High quality female education empowers women, reduces poverty and unleashes economic growth.”

Find Out MoreMy fundraising started in early 2019 with the Abingdon YOCO group. We did various group fundraisers such as concerts, running 5km and car parking at a local village festival. This was a good way to become familiar with others in my group and created a strong team mentality.
We landed at Kisumu airport and were greeted by our designated Nasio drivers and they were very helpful and friendly all through our drive to the compound, pointing out local traditions and explaining some of them to us. They also pointed out local landmarks.
Find Out MoreNancy Hunt, our CEO, is currently in Kenya and coordinating Nasio’s response on the ground to the pandemic. The first cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in Kenya and Nasio is taking proactive steps to prevent the spread of the virus and protect the health and wellbeing of the Mumias and Musanda communities.
Initially Nancy herself had to self-isolate as a precaution following Kenyan government instructions because she’d just arrived from the UK, a country which already had confirmed Coronavirus cases.

After many home visits, a few jigger treatments and volunteering at the Nasio medical centre, St Mary's hospital and visiting a local Government hospital, I was particularly interested in maximising access to healthcare, especially for our most vulnerable families.
