Nasio’s Charity Golf Day – A Wonderful Success!
October 2023

We are delighted to have hosted our Annual Charity Golf Day 2023 on 22nd September at the Springs Golf Club in Wallingford.

It was amazing to welcome 54 new and old supporters on a beautiful Friday morning, for a shotgun round across 18-holes of the Springs, that was originally designed by former Ryder Cup Captain Brian Huggart.

Apart from an exciting round of golf, the event was also marked by great activities including a game of ‘Heads and Tails’, a raffle, and an auction. Prizes were also awarded to the winning team and the nearest to the pin on hole two.

The generosity of our donors helped us raise almost £5,000 for our ‘Porridge Kitchen’ appeal.

The Porridge Kitchen is an ongoing project that feeds children suffering from malnutrition in Musanda and Mumias community. Our community health volunteers and nurses identify and work with families who need support to ensure children are receiving the right nutrition for their development. As well as providing children with porridge that includes a mix of essential grains such as millets and sorghum (as well as Nasio’s own-grown spirulina), guardians of the young children are provided with flour so that the rest of their family do not go hungry either.

By making the time to support our Golf Day event, the players have ensured that we have enough funds to continue our Porridge Kitchen for another 6 months!

We would like to thank Expert Wealth Management, The Snug – Dorchester, Crown and Thistle – Abingdon, Out Of The Box Experiences and Bay Tree Cottage for their support. Furthermore, the event would not have been such a success without the hospitality of The Springs staff. We would also like to thank Rachel Dodimead and Emma Lerche-Thompson for their support prior and during the day of the event.

We look forward to welcoming you at our next Golf Day event on the 20th of September, 2024 at The Springs, Wallingford. To save the date or find out more, please reach out to us by emailing oliver.johnson@nullthenasiotrust.org.
